The annual festival/conference and showcase of student works from the Broadcast Department of the UP College of Mass Communication kicks off today at 9 am. Sining Del Pilar opens with a message from Cheche Lazaro, veteran broadcast journalist, after whom the conference of critical papers was named. The Cheche Lazaro Kritika Series will see students delivering their critical papers about the media every morning starting today, til 9 March 2011. In the afternoon, students' video creations in their production classes will be aired as part of Sining Del Pilar. Music videos, music interpretations, dramas, documentaries, rants, and video poetry are some of the productions that aim to critique and entertain as well.

In the midmorning, DZUP 1602, the official radio station of the University, will air radio documentaries made by the students, from 10am to 11.30 am. These will include an analysis and interviews with the creators.

In the evening, post graduate students take the stage with their researches in the continuation of the Cheche Lazaro Kritika Series.

The event is open to all school and communication and media students. We encourage you all to visit and engage the students in discussion and debate, all in the effort to enrich media scholarship in the country.

All events will take place at the TV Studio of the Media Center at the College of Mass Communication.
