SOCIAL NETWORTH: Join the workshop, change society!
Do you have more than 800 contacts, 200 followers, and dozens of likes on your posts? That means next to nothing if it doesn’t translate into actual support for a cause: the youth’s cause. Following the success of the Kabataan News Network programme, the Probe Media Foundation, Inc. (PMFI), now dares college students all over the country to convert their social networks into something with a social net worth.
In partnership with the Philippine Center for Population and Development (PCPD) and through Mulat Pinoy, PMFI will be facilitating a workshop for college students in February 2012, focusing on issues related to population and development (popdev). Social NetWorth: The Filipino Youth on Social Media and PopDev aims to discuss and highlight a variety of issues related to popdev, including population momentum. The workshop will also teach strategies and schemes that will help the participants maximize their social networks and the use of both online and offline media strategies in discussing and advocating popdev. As part of the programme’s culminating activity, the students will conceptualize, plan, and execute social media and transmedia projects in their communities, geared towards increasing awareness and participation among their peers and engaging them in a proactive stance on popdev.
