LAV DIAZ at the UP Film Center | 6-14 January 2015

IN LAV WE TRUST

Philippine cinema has reaped immense international honors in the immediate past year. With unsurpassed distinctions all bestowed on Lav Diaz leading the pack, the occasion calls for one more enviable encounter with the cinema of the master director himself only at the Cine Adarna of the UPFI Film Center in UP Diliman.

Lav’s new documentary feature on Typhoon Yolanda, Mga Anak ng Unos, will have full theatrical run. Mula sa Kung Ano ang Noon – the most distinguished film to have “brought to the country the singular highest honor ever accorded to Philippine cinema” with winning the Golden Leopard Grand Prize at the A-list Locarno International Film Festival – is set for a couple of pop-up screenings. In exhibition as well are more features – all the shorter works by Lav that are in their own way of “epic, grand and saga proportions.”
