Checklist for the Degree
Bachelor of Arts in Journalism
(Effective 1st Semester, AY 2009-2010)

*(any Communication or Komunikasyon course and any course on Philippine History)


o Six (6)  units of GE courses must satisfy the Philippine Studies requirement in any domain.
o Non-italicized items in parentheses are prerequisites.
o CMC electives are any Broadcast, Communication Research or Film subjects that the student is qualified to enroll in.
o Non-CMC electives are subjects in any discipline offered by other UP units.

Note: As a requirement for graduation, all students are required to take six (6) units in one of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) components.    The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) are offered by U.P. Diliman.


GE subjects in the Arts and Humanities domain  = 15 units
GE subjects in the Math, Science and Technology domain  =15 units
GE subjects in the Social Sciences and Philosophy domain = 15 units
Journalism core subjects  = 30 units
Journalism electives =  15 units
Required CMC subjects  =  21 units
CMC electives  = 6 units
Required Non-CMC subjects =  9 units
Non-CMC electives     = 21 units
